What's New and What's Not New for September 2000. What's New: I am working on some basic home computer security articles. They will have links to sites that I think are worth the click, and instructions on making your home computer a little safer and more secure while you are on-line. The instructions are easy to follow, but, I won't be responsible if you mess up your computer. All I can say is they work for me and my system. I hope to have the pages up on the site by the end of the month. This is basic Windows stuff here. If you want to be safe and secure then you should learn this stuff. The pages will be under the My World section of the site. Hey, the worst thing that'll happen if you mess up is you'll have to re-setup your network setting and dial-up settings, not a big deal, the Windows wizards will do it for you in most cases. What's Not New: Not a whole lot this month except that summer is over and there is free parking at the beaches now. And, it's almost time to dust of the snow shovel. Winter is coming once again. What's New: Cable Internet Access is finally coming to rural Deerfield, New Hampshire. I should be hooked up in a week or so. Now I can finally get rid of this pokey slow 56k modem connection I used to think was as fast as the speed of light. What's New: The Mormon Family History website has the new Personal Ancestry File (PAF) program version 4 for Windows 95/98/NT available for free download or you can order the CD for $5.00. If you are into genealogy, this is the program I use and it is a nice program with a lot of new features in the new Windows version. |
